As part of its ongoing research and development and product validation process, Hanfeng continuously conducts field trials. The results of our field trials have consistently shown a higher yield when compared to conventional fertilizers regardless of the growing conditions.
Field Case I: No top-dressing, Hanfeng's slow-release fertilizers are drought resistant
Zhang Guofan, a farmer in the branch 11 of Suifen Farm, has applied Hanfeng's slow-release fertilizers on his 40 ha. corn, soybean and rice fields with no top-dressing. Having gone through drought for more than 50 days, his corn crops are dark green in the stems and leaves below the 4th node; while other farmer's corn crops fertilized in the conventional way are curled and yellow in the leaves. His rice has not been top-dressed since transplantation on May 14, while the rice fertilized in the conventional way during the previous years' required double top dressings in the tillering stage and the green up stage respectively Zhang Guofan' rice has already completed the heading stage and the effective tillering rate gets over 95%. Zhang Guofan was so exicted to claim, "I am very pleased with the results from applying Hanfeng's slow-release fertilizers!".

Nearby, fields fertilized in the conventional way are badly affected by the drought
Field Case II: The Crops applied with Hanfeng's slow-release fertilizers grow better than those in high yield fields from previous years that were fertilized conventionally
Sui Zaiyun, a farmer in Suifen Farm Baoquanling Sub-bureau, was once a winner of the National May 1 Medal, and has applied Hanfeng's slow-release fertilizers on his corn, soybean and rice fields this year. He has applied SCU for Rice on his 450 mu rice field in the 31 branch of Suibin Farm, which is adjacent to the stable high yield field known throughout the Farm with an average yield of 9 tonnes/ha. With the same rice variety, the rice of Sui Zaiyun, once fertilized without any top-dressing, is wide, thick and green in leaves, 70cm in height, and over 90% in the effective tillering rate; compared with the rice fertilized in the conventional way which is 65cm in height and only 80% in the effective tillering rate. It can be concluded that the rice fields applied with Hanfeng's slow-release fertilizers grows better than that in high yield field from previous years that used conventional fertilizers.

Field Case III
The demonstration project of "Introduce Water from Heilongjiang" intends to irrigate rice of the region in large scale, increase the accumulative temperature, and improve crop quality. The crops applied with Hanfeng's slow-release fertilizers have 120 grains per panicle in average with the highest number of 200 in the main panicles, 70-80cm in height, over 80% in the heading rate, developed root systems, and over 600/m2 in effective tillering. Wang Zhiqiang, director of the demonstration region, stated that the demonstration fields have to be finely cultivated and cost a lot in mechanical operations, therefore it is critical for them to generate high yields. This year, only 1.5 hectares have been applied with Hanfeng's slow-release fertilizers, and a significant difference can be. In the comparison trial fields, the effective tillering is about 480/square metres, and the grains per panicle averages 90 with the highest number of 130 in the main panicles. The effect of Hanfeng' slow-release fertilizers is significant, and Hanfeng's SCU for Rice is going to be applied in large scale in the demonstration fields next year.

Field Case IV: Seed production demonstration fields of the Ministry of Agriculture, are encouraging more farmers to use Hanfeng's slow-release fertilizers
Wu Jiangjun, a big grower in Pu Yang farm Bao Quanling Sub-Bureau, has a total planting area of 400 hectares. This year, 20 hectares of his land in Liuxi No.10 field is set as the production demonstration field for new varieties by the Ministry of Agriculture. 4 hectares have been applied with Hanfeng's SCU for Soybean. Wu Jiangjun said that in spite of the drought, the soybeans applied with Hanfeng's slow-release fertilizers have grown well; and as long as the rainfall is adequate in the late season, a bumper harvest is expected this year. On his 65 hectares rice field applied with Hanfeng's SCU for Corn, uniform growth, a developed root system and dark green leaves are present. The effects on Wu Jianjun's fields have attracted a lot of attention from big growers to Hanfeng' slow-release fertilizer.

Field Case V: Catch up
Tang Qidong from Junchuan Farm has applied Hanfeng's slow-release fertilizer for corn with no top-dressing. The adjacent cornfield of Qi Jiang is a well-known high yield field in Junchuan Branch 3, which were 1metre in height before the intertillage, when the cornfields of Tang Qidong were only 50cm in height. What is beyond Qi Jiang's expectation is that the cornfields of Tang Qidong grew better than his cornfields in less than a month showing dark green, wide and thick leaves, sturdy stems, 2m in height, and booting. The cornfields of Tang Qidong have caught up and are now the best field of the Branch.
Field Case VI: Time-saving, labor-saving and good results; apply Hanfeng's slow-release fertilizers in all fields
Wu Shifan is the demonstration household of science and technology in Junchuan farm and a model worker in the General Bureau of State Farms in Heilongjiang Province. He has applied SCU for Soybean on 2ha. soybean field planted on May 7 in Group 5. Now the soybeans are dark green in the leaves, 60cm in height, and podding; while the neighboring field was applied with other compound fertilizers. Although the "autumn ploughing" method adopted in other fields is better than the "spring ploughing" method adopted by Wu Shifan, the random sampling result shows that the pod number is 13 per plant in Wu Shifan's field, and only 5 in the neighbor field.
It is said by Wu Shifan that many growers in Junchuan Farm have recognized the yield increase effect of Hanfeng's slow-release fertilizers through the technology and science demonstration. This region has vast land area, and is highly mechanicalized. The application of Hanfeng's slow-release fertilizers saves the need for top-dressing, labor and production input, and decreases cost significantly. It can save RMB 50-60/ha. in machinery operation and labor, thus generates considerable economic benefits. Wu Shifan will apply Hanfeng's slow-release fertilizers in all his fields next year.
Field Case VII: Malaysia Field Trials
Thanks to the hard work and persistent effort of the Malaysia Project Team of Hanfeng, Hanfeng slow release fertilizer yielded strong result at the harvesting of the demonstration rice fields organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of Malaysia on Feb. 23., 2010.
At the harvesting day, over 20 people including the members from the Ministry of Agriculture of Malaysia, relative officials from the Perak state and local agronomical experts collected yield data from the demonstration rice field applied with Hanfeng slow release fertilizer. The result showed that this field produced the highest yield per unit in Perak state.
At 12:30 pm, the harvest machine started work at the witness of everyone at site. This is a high yield field used to produce 12 tons grain (7.5 tons/ha.). However, Hanfeng slow release fertilizer produced 14.8 tons grain (equivalent to 9.45 tons/ha) out of this field this year. The fertilization practice in Malaysia is 500kg/hectare conventional fertilizer and 4-5 top-dressings (some farmers even apply 750-1000kg fertilizers per ha.), while by applying Hanfeng slow release fertilizer, the application rate can be decreased to 445kg and the application times can be as few as 2-3 times.
It is known that the rice production in Malaysia is 3-3.5 tons/hectare on average, and the highest yield in Perak state is 7.5 tons per ha. Hanfeng slow release fertilizer succeeded in increasing yield with less fertilizer application rates and times. The officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, related experts and the adjacent growers remarked on the performance of this field and expressed their willingness to learn and promote the experience of this field. Hanfeng SCU becomes the most popular fertilizer immediately.

At the early stage of Hanfeng's entrance into Malaysia, Hanfeng slow release fertilizer encountered the challenges from the conventional fertilization practice, language communication, climate difference etc. Despite of all those challenges, Hanfeng slow release fertilizer still achieved outstanding results compared with the conventional fertilizers, which helps in accelerating the cooperation between Hanfeng and the local government and partners. Those results also proved that Hanfeng slow release fertilizer can increase yield and fertilizer use efficiency; save land, water, fertilizer, pesticides, seeds, electricity, oil, firewood, energy consumption; protect agricultural and ecological environment; control agricultural non-point pollution; improve soil carbon stabilization ability; and reduce greenhouse air emission.
