Loudon Owen
Chairman of the Board
Mr. Owen brings a wealth of international business and board experience to Hanfeng. He is the co-founder of McLean Watson Capital, a leading Canadian venture capital firm with extensive interests in Asia, and offices in Shanghai and Singapore. Prior to establishing McLean Watson Capital, Mr. Owen was a Director and for one year co-Chief Operating Officer of Softimage Inc., a world leader in high-end 3D animation, in its growth from 4 to 250 employees, its IPO on Nasdaq in 1992 and the sale to Microsoft Inc. in 1994. Prior to that, Mr. Owen practiced corporate/commercial and securities law with a major Canadian law firm. He subsequently founded a corporate law firm that specialized in representing growth companies. He holds a BA from the University of Toronto, an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School, Toronto and an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. Mr. Owen serves on several public and private boards.
Edwin Nordholm
Mr. Nordholm is a former senior executive with Brookfield Asset Management Inc. and presently counsel with the firm of Davis LLP. Mr. Nordholm has extensive experience in corporate restructurings, corporate finance and mergers and acquisition transactions. Mr. Nordholm has advised a variety of clients with respect to public and private financings, cross-border acquisitions and divestitures, auction transactions, going-private and issuer bid transactions, debt acquisitions, bridge lending transactions and other merchant banking transactions. Mr. Nordholm holds an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School.
Lei Li
Ms. Li served as executive vice president of Hanfeng from 2003 to 2007 and has been working with Hanfeng since the company was first established in China in 1996. During her tenure with Hanfeng, Ms. Li helped the Company establish strategic business relationships with several major suppliers, including Nu-Gro of Ontario as well as playing a key role in developing the Company's domestic and international sales strategies.
David J. Thomson
Mr. Thomson has over 30 years of experience in real estate management and development, having served as President of Great West Life Properties from 1988 to 2004, and as the Vice President of Oxford Development Group prior to 1988. Mr. Thomson also has several years of government experience, including four years as Special Assistant to former Prime Minister Trudeau. He brings to Hanfeng his knowledge of financial and debt markets as well as his expertise in managing projects and large organizations.
Joanne Yan
Ms. Yan, is currently the President, Secretary and Director of Red Dragon Resources Corp. Ms. Yan was one of the founders and a director of CPAC (Care) Holdings Inc. from its formation until the company was purchased by Chartwell Master Care LP in July 2005, and was Vice President of Apac Minerals Inc. from January 1996 to March 2005, until its amalgamation with Golden China Resources Corporation. Ms Yan has approximately 15 years' experience in advising and managing venture and growing companies and has played a significant role in the corporate financing and business development strategies between several North American and Chinese companies. She has also been a senior corporate executive with a number of other publicly traded companies in Canada.
Andrew Mittag
Mr. Mittag has over 25 years experience in corporate strategy and development, investment banking and commercial banking. He is currently Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy with Agrium Inc., a major retail supplier of agricultural products and services. Before joining Agrium, Mr. Mittag was President and Chief Financial Officer as well as co-founder of Rockland Capital Partners in Dallas, Texas. Prior to Rockland, Andrew led Corporate Strategy and Development for both TXU Corporation and Koch Industries.
Xinduo Yu
Mr. Yu is a successful entrepreneur with a track record of building successful businesses. From 1989 to 1992, Mr. Yu was Director of Dalian Office, Shangzhi City Government, Helongjiang Province where he assisted government and private entities to promote businesses in Dalian. Prior to that, Mr. Yu was Head of Shangzhi Transportation Bureau where he governed urban traffic control, road construction and maintenance and supervised senior management and fulfilled central government policies and regulations.
Joni Paulus
Joni Paulus was appointed General Counsel of Agrium Inc. on May 13, 2009. In this position, she is responsible for oversight of all Legal operations, entity policy development, Board commitments and public disclosure requirements.
Prior to commencing her current role with Agrium, Joni spent several years practicing law independently. Prior to that, she worked at the Calgary offices of Blake, Cassels & Graydon for 14 years, 10 of which she served as Partner. Joni's areas of expertise are corporate/commercial, banking, energy, environmental and Aboriginal law.
Joni has also been actively involved in a number of community organizations serving on their Boards and Executive Committees. Joni's current role in this regard is as a public member for the Health Professions Act where she is involved in establishing complaint review committees and hearing tribunals.
Jonathan Pollack
Jonathan Pollack has approximately 20 years of financial, strategic and merger and acquisitions experience. Mr. Pollack is currently the Executive Vice President and a director of API Technologies Corp., a U.S. based defense subcontractor. From March 2005 through its sale in 2009 to The Walt Disney Company and Barclays Private Equity, he served as the Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of Kaboose Inc. Mr. Pollack also worked in investment banking in New York. Mr. Pollack is currently a director of Lifebank Corp. (TSX-V:LBK). Mr. Pollack received a Masters of Science in Finance from the London School of Economics and a Bachelors of Commerce from McGill University. He is involved in several philanthropic organizations and is the Vice Chair of the Leadership Sinai Board of Directors at the Mt. Sinai Hospital and is Past Chair and Director of the Crescent School Foundation.
